1937年に英国総領事公邸として建築された建物で、近代主義を基調としたモダンな形と伝統を加味した重厚な美しさは、当時の大英帝国の風格をよくあらわしています。1969年に横浜市が買い取り、1990年横浜市指定文化財となり、2002年からは一般見学もできるようになりました。

The former official residence for British Consul General, built in 1937, has a dignified beauty of its modern shape based on modernism coupled with conventional elements, which represents the stately character of the Britain Empire of the day.
It was bought by the City of Yokohama in 1969, later designated as Cultural Property by the City of Yokohama in 1990.
Since 2002, it has been open to the public.
