伊勢山皇大神宮は1868年に国費で創建され、神奈川県の宗社、横浜の総鎮守とされています。
明治維新後、横浜が国の貿易の要として開港されるに及び、人々の心を1つにし、外国との国柄の違いを胸に刻み、国家の鎮護を祈る事を目的に、1870年4月、時の神奈川県副知事の号令のもと、社殿を始め、境内の整備が開始されました。翌年には社殿並びに境内施設が竣工し、正遷宮が執り行われました。
境内は12,900平米。創建当時の社殿は関東大震災によって倒壊し、現在の社殿は1928年に復旧建造されたものです。
古より伝わる年間約30の祭典が厳粛にとりおこなわれており、その中でも、6月30日、12月31日の大祓式また2月3日の節分祭は多くの参列者でにぎわいます。

Iseyama kotai Jingu Shrine was founded in 1868 with government funds and it is regarded as the overall guardian of Yokohama and is a shrine in Kanagawa Prefecture.
After the Meiji Restoration, starting with the shrine preparations of the precincts began to open the port of Yokohama and make it a key to trade for the country and unite the hearts of the people, underscore the difference of the nation's character from foreign countries and for the purpose of praying for the security of the nation, under the direction of the Deputy Governor of Kanagawa Prefecture at the time.
The precinct is 12,900 square meters. The shrine at the time of foundation was destroyed by the Great Kanto Earthquake and current shine is one restored in 1928.
About 30 festivals that have been passed on from the old days are solemnly held each year and among them, the Oharai Rite (Great Purification) held on June 30th and December 31st and the Setsubun Festival (End of Winter) held on February 2 are crowded with many participants.
