横浜能楽堂は、独自の切り口で、能・狂言の上演を行っています。
能の源流となる芸能は、鎌倉時代後期から室町時代初期に生まれたことから、現存では世界最古の舞台芸術ともいえます。その骨格は約600年前、観阿弥･世阿弥の親子がつくり、江戸時代になると、武家が儀式に用いる音楽劇「式楽」として幕府に保護されました。
横浜能楽堂ではそうした古典芸能を架け橋として様々な国との文化交流・共同制作事業を実施しています。
さらに、年に１回「バリアフリー能」を開催し、障がいのある方もない方も一緒に能・狂言を楽しめる環境づくりを目指しています。

Yokohama Noh Theater performs a performance of Noh and Kyogen with its own approach.
Since the late Kamakura period was born in the early Muromachi period, the entertainment which becomes the source of Noh can be said to be the world's oldest performing art in existence. About 600 years ago, its skeleton was created by parents and children of Kanaya and Zeami. In the Edo period, the shogunate protected the music play "Shikumaku" used by the samurai for ceremonies.
In Yokohama Noh theater, they are conducting cultural exchange and collaborative production projects with various countries as a bridge between these classical performing arts.
Furthermore, they hold a "barrier-free ability" once a year, aiming to create an environment that enables people with disabilities and healthy people to enjoy Noh and Kyogen.
